About Us

JB Machining Concepts sprang from the desire to create. I had a successful and fulfilling engineering career, but my desire to design and fabricate custom equipment was my ultimate goal. JB Machining Concepts, LLC is the culmination of my career and allows me to fabricate and design custom equipment on a daily basis.

I established JB Machining Concepts, LLC to utilize the engineering knowledge I gained over 30 years of designing equipment and products for businesses and individuals. My company is concentrated on custom lighting, and I’ve acquired UL certification to produce Incandescent Surface Mounted Luminaires. We’ve recently expanded into custom powder painting, school logo lamps, business logo lamps, light fixture rewiring, wine bottle tiki lamps, LED lamp manufacturing and custom beer tap handles.

In 2013 my son Alex Blankemeyer joined the company to bring his training and experience in product design to JB Machining Concepts to help expand our offerings into new areas.

John’s Experience

My formal engineering education began with an associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering in 1976 at Lima Technical College. To pay for my education I worked as a general laborer at Glandorf Tile and designed and constructed a device to assist in the installation of clay drainage tile and obtained a patent on this device in 1976.

I accepted employment with Xerox Corporation in 1977 which helped me learn practical knowledge on the interactions between electric controls and mechanical motions. I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering in 1980 from the University of Dayton. While I worked with Toledo Edison after graduation I continued to take courses in the areas of Robotics, PLC Programming, Mechanical Power and Hydraulics. I returned to my hometown in Putnam County and took on a position at Philips Display Components Company as a Controls Design Engineer. My primary role was to design electronic controls for robotic and industrial equipment control applications.

Next I worked with W C Wood Company as Manufacturing Engineering Manager, where I developed the engineering and maintenance department for 17 years. During my engineering career I have designed and specified production equipment including Mechanical Power Presses, Resistance Welders and a range of automated equipment that utilized Programmable Logic Controllers, AC and DC Motor speed controls, Pneumatics, Hydraulics, and the associated tooling that is used in the various applications. JB Machining Concepts, LLC allows me to use my years of experience and education to design and fabricate custom products for clients around the world.

Alex’s Experience

I studied Architecture at the University of Cincinnati and realized that my passion was in smaller scale projects, which led me to switch to an Industrial Design major. Throughout school I studied Rapid Prototyping machines and held jobs through UC’s co-op program with the construction toy company K’nex, the high-end furniture and lighting company Ochre, the deign consultancy LPK, and General Electric Appliances.

I began work with Bruce Fox, a custom trophy and award shop, in 2010 working in their fabrication department. I built awards for national organizations both by hand as well as with programming for laser cutting and CNC work. I built trophies and awards for the NCAA, NASCAR, and large corporations and was promoted to the head of the fabrication department by the end of 2010.

In 2013 I left Bruce Fox to join my dad at JB Machining Concepts, LLC. My experience with different materials and processes and product design and manufacturing will help our company expand product offerings into new areas.
